Just thought I would post a few pictures of a little project I just completed for my granddaughter on her 1st birthday!
This was made from solid oak, It is constructed by making four raised panel panels, then using a lockmitre router-bit to join the front, back & two sides. The 4" base is made up of one piece rabbited under the bottom, with a decorative curved cutout with a little 1/2 round detail in the front. Then the base is capped with a small moulding. The lid was also made with a raised panel, then the edges were routed with what is called a "thumbnail" profile, which also looks good on table edges.
The whole thing is stained in a light oak, then three coats of hand rubbed poly, followed by a coat of paste finishing wax.
