Fireplace Mantel Surround

This post features a couple pictures of a fireplace mantel surround we just completed in a new construction office condo in Woodbridge, Virginia.

I just used some stock mouldings and 1x material for the surround and pilasters, and then a piece of 5/4 for the mantel shelf.

The mantel features fluted pilasters with plinths and rosettes. The breastplate features a neck moulding treatment and crown moulding under the top mantel shelf. We also added a decorative panel moulding panel above the mantel.

Also notice we installed a two piece chair rail and a three piece crown moulding build-up
