Here is a picture of a small door and frame we made for a client who had finished off their basement and needed a nice covering for the electrical panel box.
I personally like to actually frame up a full wall closing off the panel box, and install a full size door unit directly in front of the box. Makes it look like it was a closet... a lot better than having a panel box hanging out on the wall. Of course you have the added costs for the framing, door and lockset, and the spaces issues, but is my preferred method.
This was for a single panel box, and was made large enough for the panel box cover to be able to be removed.
It is constructed with poplar wood frames, poplar wood stiles, MDF for the raised panel. The door is installed with concealed euro style hinges. This just gets mounted to the drywall in front of the panel box. When painted this looks an awfully lot better than the old metal panel box cover.
We can custom make these doors and frames to any size, shape, style or wood species. To be painted or stained. This one is ready to be installed and then painted along with the rest of the mouldings.
