These are a few before and after pictures of a stairway renovation we just completed. The project consisted of modifying an old carpeted stairway with new solid oak treads, and installing a new oak balustrade system. We also opened up the last five stair treads and did away with the old painted boxed stair rake wall & rake rail. Opening up these first few stairs really gives the impression of a larger stairway and foyer.
The oak box newel post (4093), has been modified by adding four decorative panels in the center section. The balusters are 1 1/4" square (5060) and the rails are 6010 style.
These pictures were taken right after the renovation, before any painting and staining, etc.
